E-bikes, Motorcyles and OHVs

The Forest Service's Motor Vehicle Use Map is the best resource for learning which roads and trails are open to motorcycles and ATVs. In addition, please visit the State of Montana's OHV program website for more information on permits and regulations.

E-bikes use in Hyalite, and across the forest, is also governed by the Motor Vehicle Use Map. E-bikes are allowed on all roads and trails open to motor vehicles. In particular, motorcycle trails provide excellent single-track riding for e-bikers!

Two popular OHV trailheads in Hyalite are Moser and Lick Creek. Moser has an old logging road base that provides some great single track and double track riding. The Lick Creek trail features great views of Hyalite Reservoir and the surrounding area.

Time share trails

  • East Fork to Emerald Lake (#434): motorcycles and e-bikes allowed Wednesday – Saturday

  • Main Hyalite trail (#427 to #185): motorcycles and e-bikes allowed Sunday – Thursday

  • Visit the Forest's time share webpage for more information.

When riding, stay on designated roads and trails and always yield the right of way to non-motorized trail users.
